Grade 1 Listed building Installation

Posted On: 05 August 2008

Architect: Gareth Lewis Penseiri Architects

Main Contractor: Pristine Bedford Ltd.

Project Type: Installation of a fall protection system, Installation of 1 10m fall arrest ladder to provide safe access and egress to the roof system.

Our Role:

To install a fall protection safety system within a traditional Welsh slated roof that would enable contractors to clean and maintain the roof. Due to the location and listed building status it was imperative that the systems final design was sensitive to planning regulations, minimum effects were placed on the roofing structure during the installation process and when completed the system was completely watertight.

The post were fitted internally back to the main roof trusses and positioned so that they were not viewable from the ground floor and once installed made watertight with Code 9 lead sleeves. Once installed fixed and tested the top section components were fitted along with the stainless steel caps and the system completed.

To provide safe access and egress to the roof system Pristine installed a 10m fall arrest ladder which was fixed through the external cavity wall and then clamped on the internal wall.

Once both systems had been installed Pristine provided a days training on the safety systems. Pristine were selected for the project as we were able to provide the design, installation, testing and training for the project.
